Marvena Andrews

Marvena (Marty) Andrews, a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and devoted friend, went to meet her heavenly father on January 16, 2025. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family. 

Marty was born on June 21, 1942 in Savannah, Georgia. She was the sixth of seven children born to Marvin and Viola Barnard. 

Marty met her forever love, Howard “Andy” Andrews through a mutual friend while he was stationed at Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah. They were married on September 27, 1959 and enjoyed 65+ years together. Of this union, three children were born: Tony, Randy, and Sherry.

Marty retired from the Oklahoma Blood Institute on July 2, 2004, after serving there as a dedicated employee for 24 years. 

Marty lived a life filled with love, adventure and joy. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, craft making, and playing cards with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed spending time with grandchildren. 

Marty loved her family and friends passionately. Her unconditional love, kindness and generous heart will be cherished forever. 

Marty leaves behind her husband Howard K. Andrews “Andy”; her children, Tony and Randy Andrews, Sherry (Brian) Collins; her grandchildren Brandy Andrews and David Jacob “DJ” Schmitt; her brother Ott (Andi) Barnard; her brother-in-law William Arnold; her sister-in-law Janie Barnard; along with several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin H. Barnard and Viola Smith Barnard; her brothers Hinson and Ronald Barnard; her sisters Hazel Barnard, Joan Hafey and Frances Arnold; and her grandson Zachary Ryan Andrews.

A memorial service celebrating Marty’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Hibbs Funeral Home Chapel in Choctaw, OK.
