Janet Gene Rains

Janet Gene Rains, age 80, of Ada, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025. Janet was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on January 28, 1945, to Arthur Clyde English and Mary Evelyn Bradford English. She attended Star Spencer High School and graduated with the class of 1963. She continued her education by attending the Oklahoma School of Banking in 1964 as well as the Duncan Brothers Barber College in 1993.

Janet was self employed and had a successful upholstery business for many years in Maud, Oklahoma. She then expanded her business by moving to Oklahoma City. Janet was a very talented individual, doing upholstery work for some of the most influential people and companies in Oklahoma City. Janet shared her talents for many years by teaching upholstery at Metro Tech. In addition to upholstery, she also made custom interiors, drapes, and purses. She was extremely talented with anything related to custom décor and design and loved collecting and creating custom jewelry.

Janet married Floyd V. Rains July 7, 1964, in Cushing, Oklahoma and gave birth to three wonderful children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur C. and Mary E. English, the father of her children, Floyd V. Rains, her son, Daniel A. Rains, and a brother, Richard E. English.

She is survived by her daughter, Shaunda K. Root and husband, Larry of Ada, Oklahoma. A son, William N. Rains and wife, Kristie of Lumberton, Texas and her brother, Thomas A. English of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She also has her beloved grandchildren, Jessica Kumtsiah, Levi Root, Abbygale Venable and her husband Nick, Keifer Rains and his wife Ashley, six great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
