David Andrew Caywood was born on February 2, 1960 in Southgate, California to Sally Louise (Watson) and Donald Andrew Caywood. He passed from us to the Lord on December 7, 2024 at his home.
He moved from California to Midwest City, Oklahoma with his mother, his older sister Shirley, and his younger sister Karen at a young age. He attended Spencer public schools. When he was younger, he enjoyed playing baseball and football. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1978. After high school he started playing pick up basketball in the mornings at YMCA Midwest City. It was there where he was recruited to play basketball at Hillsdale Baptist College after never playing high school basketball.He met Sharon Kaye Cobb, his soon to be wife, at a basketball league at Choctaw First Baptist in the winter of 1979. They were engaged May 1980 and married in November of that year at First Baptist Church Choctaw. They resided in Nicoma Park until the day of David’s passing. They both shared a passion for softball and he played on various softball leagues and he and Sharon both played on coed leagues together throughout the years as well as bowling leagues. He also collected, traded, and sold thousands of sports cards.
He learned the craft of rewinding electric motors from his neighbor, Eddie Beesley where he was later employed at Specialty Repair. He worked there for several years and then began work at Allstate Electric Motors where he worked for 20+ years until his retirement.He and Sharon welcomed their one and only son, Mark David Caywood on July 23, 1982. He loved doing fantasy football, playing video games, and watching various comedies and OU football with his son. Later on, he became a proud grandparent to Bridget Jean, Christopher David, and Samuel Leroy. David would do anything for his grandkids. He spent countless hours driving Bridget to and from her college classes and work and loved their conversations together. He and Christopher would go to Grandy‘s and other favorite restaurants for breakfast on Saturday mornings. Sam enjoyed bantering and joking frequently with his “Old Man”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Donald Caywood and his in-laws Leroy and Jean Cobb.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, son Mark, daughter-in-law, Amanda (Wiens), grandchildren Bridget, Christopher, and Samuel, sister Shirley Dutton, sister Karen Eastep, brother-in-law Leroy Cobb Jr., brother-in-law Charlie Cobb, several nieces and nephews, and lots of friends.
