Beverly Raye Phillips

March 31, 1956 — March 2, 2025

Mustang

Beverly Raye Phillips 68, died on March 2, 2025 in Mustang, Oklahoma, finally at peace after a long and debilitating battle with Alzheimers. Born on March 31,1956 to George Donald Bailey Sr. and Martha Spence Bailey in Vienna, West Virginia, she was the fourth of six children. Beverly was blessed with a musical talent that made her family smile. Throughout her lifetime she played multiple instruments and loved to sing. One of her last afternoons before her death was spent enjoying music in the warm Oklahoma sun with her son and sister by her side. In high school, Beverly embraced the role of pioneer, becoming the first girl to join the all-male Parkersburg High School Big Red Marching Band. She found the love of her life in that band when she played her mellophone alongside Kendall Phillips, a drum major in the band. High school sweethearts, Kendall and Beverly were married on October 18, 1975.Beverly and Kendall moved to Oklahoma in 1978 and went on to have three beautiful children whom they loved more than anything. They treasured the summers they had together at lake Eufaula, enjoying everything that came with life on the lake like fishing, campfires, and everyday adventure. After working as a medical laboratory technologist at Children’s Hospital, Beverly went to nursing school in 1988 where she continuously made deans list in spite of having three young children at home and working 40-hour weekends. After school, she found her calling as a pediatric ICU nurse. Beverly was working in the hospital ICU during the Oklahoma City bombing and took care of the pediatric bombing victims. She continued to help people in her chosen field until the age of 58. Spending time with family was her ultimate joy in life. Traveling and shopping with her sisters, summering at the lake, and watching her grandchildren play and laugh filled her heart. And, while she was taken from us far too soon, we will forever be grateful for the quality time we had together as a family.Beverly is preceded in death by her parents George Donald Bailey Sr. and Martha Bailey, husband Kendall Phillips, daughter Kendra Phillips, brother George Bailey Jr. and granddaughter Bailey Phillips. Cherishing her memory are her sons; George and wife Julie Phillips of Yukon OK, George and Brayden; Jonathan Phillips of Oklahoma City, Kylee and Silas; sisters Beth Kagey of Columbia, Maryland, Barbara Evans of Marietta, Ohio, Bonnie Wilkinson of Newalla, Oklahoma and brother Benjamin Bailey of Athens, Ohio and countless other relatives and friends. When Beverly was a preschooler, the town paved the road in front of her house in Vienna, WV. Carefree, Beverly walked across the wet cement, leaving her mark forever on the sidewalk. Gone but never forgotten, Beverly continues to live on in our hearts and memories.
