Arlene Joyce Musgrove (Vaughn), 87 passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025 at her home in Harrah surrounded by family. She was born at home on May 17,1937, in Newalla, Oklahoma.
Arlene’s early years were spent at Newalla school. She attended Harrah school for one year and ultimately graduated from Mcloud High school. Moving to El Paso, Texas she held her first job with the Boy Scouts where she learned to use a telephone for the first time at age 17. After moving back to Oklahoma, she worked approximately 13 years with the OKC credit bureau.
A lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Newalla, Arlene accepted Jesus as her Savior at the age of 9 and remained deeply committed to God and her Faith. She served in numerous capacities within the church, including Sunday school teacher and Nursery worker. She loved serving with Jolly Elders preparing meals and also loved helping to maintain the church grounds. She especially loved attending Falls Creek as a sponsor for youth trips and found great joy in sharing her faith with others.
Arlene had a passion for sewing and took great pride in making clothes for her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved gardening and flowers. Traveling was one of her great passions. Alongside her beloved husband Don, they explored all 50 states and even ventured to Europe twice. Of all the places visited, Alaska was her favorite!
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Marlene Haley and husband Chuck of Harrah, Nancy Newberry and husband Sonny of Harrah;
step-sons Don Musgrove Jr. and wife Sharon of Harrah, Larry Musgrove of Harrah; brother Virgil Vaughn and wife MaryLou of Mcloud; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dan and Mary Vaughn; sister Maxine Vaughn; brother Grant Vaughn; husband Don Musgrove; grandson Jason Musgrove; and granddaughter Christy Musgrove.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am on February 22, 2025 at First Baptist Church located 20800 SE 59th Street, Newalla Oklahoma.
Arlene will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, hard work, and boundless love for family and friends. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her.
